2) The best software for spanish must be enjoyable for you.  Trust me, I’ve come across many spanish programs that are like watching grass grow.  I barely got through 10 minutes before asking for my refund.  So if a spanish software includes games, contests, exercises, etc… then it should almost top your list, not only because it will be pretty darn fun but because you will be able to notice progress in your ability very quickly.

3) And finally, the price MUST be reasonable.  I’ve seen many spanish software programs out there going for $300, $400, and even up to $700.  That may make their perceived value very high but that does not mean anything about the actual product except that it could potentially be a HUGE waste of money.  However, from what I’ve seen and heard from people in the same boat as you, a few of the most effective spanish learning software is available for less than $100 and can easily compete with the “big dogs” charging $100′s for practically the same thing…
