Learning Spanish Like Crazy Review

Learning Spanish Like Crazy

Learning Spanish Like Crazy is an audio based Spanish course. It is structured similarly to the Pimsleur method with a few improvements. Learning Spanish Like Crazy focuses heavily on vocabulary and words and phrases that are needed to communicate in Spanish.

This course is entirely audio, and has no supplemental material. As such it is designed to stand alone. If you don’t have time to sit in front of a computer this may be the course for you.

How it works

Learning Spanish Like Crazy uses audio lessons to teach vocabulary. Not just any old words, words and phrases that are used in everyday conversation.

The lessons move quickly, leaving the simple concepts for you to comprehend and stopping briefly to explain the more complex ones. Each lesson builds on the previous one and becomes progressively more advanced.

Great pains are taken to insure your pronunciation/accent is correct and natural. Or if you are like me as close as possible.

What’s included?

The Learning Spanish Like Crazy Program is entirely audio based. The course can be downloaded or ordered in CD format.

There are 30 audio lessons in the course itself however the bonuses are something to be reconed with.

FSI Spanish levels 1-4 are included as a bonus. These courses were developed by the US government over 40 years ago to help FBI, CIA, DEA, and other personnel learn Spanish.

Altogether these courses total more than 54 hours of audio lessons.

FSI Fast Course is also included. This was developed more recently as sort of a crash course for government personel who are about to head overseas.

My Conclusion

My biggest complaint is that while the audio courses are top notch, there is no accompanying material. Many other programs include text lessons and games.

Having said that, what it does do it does well. Since there is no reference material the lessons are designed to stand alone.

If you plan to do most of your learning on the run this may be the program for you. Since it is entirely audio based, all the gaps are filled using the audio lessons themselves.

While there aren’t as many frills with Learning Spanish Like Crazy, it is a good course and the bonuses alone are worth the price. Level one is priced just under $100. The second level must be purchased separately.
